Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) committee is a standing committee of the Niagara Bruce Trail Club. We support the club in achieving it’s DEIB goals and objectives, advise the club Board of Directors on matters related to DEIB, develop strategies and initiatives within the club, promote a culture of inclusion and belonging within the club and within our communities, and help remove systemic barriers within the club. Our committee actively engages with various groups to solicit their input, identify strategies and relationships to reduce barriers to participation, and communicate our progress through the website, Grapevine newsletter, and at in-person events.
Increasing access to the trail requires everyone’s input and support. We invite you to join us to learn more or contribute ideas. We hold open meetings twice per year that any club member may attend (find them on the hike schedule). The purpose of those meetings is to engage with interested volunteers, solicit feedback, and listen to new ideas. Come chat with us. Interested in participating? We’re excited to announce that on April 10, 2026, the BTC and its nine Clubs are now Rainbow Registered. Earning this accreditation means that the Bruce Trail Conservancy and Clubs have met a high set of standards set by the Canada’s Queer Chamber of Commerce (CQCC) to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
